Athens, Greece
RYS is developing a safe space in Athens for young people aged 16-21 years of age. We provide a range of emotional, material and specialist support.

In Athens, Velos Youth was registered by RYS in 2017 in order to hire local
staff and begin the journey of founding and nurturing an autonomous organisation that would eventually be entirely locally led, independent of RYS. Towards the end of 2017 the project began to undergo a number of changes that would ultimately see the rise of this local leadership.

Velos Youth has become an essential sanctuary for displaced youth in Athens. RYS has created a safer space in the heart of the community, accessible by all vulnerable young people regardless of race, ethnicity, cultural background, or religious affiliation.

The space provides a place where young people can feel safe, take respite, seek emotional and material support and connect with those services offering legal counsel and psychological care.
